The principal issue is trying to wow classic gold do anything which isn't the zombie infestation becomes challenging to perform, largely since participant zombies like to hangout at quest givers and other spots where plenty of gamers have a tendency to collect. Because this event also comes with an entire questline that takes place in the zones around Stormwind and Orgrimmar, there is ample opportunity to camp out and potentially infect as many players as possible. However, one positive change from the previous time that the zombie infestation happened is that Blizzard appears to have made it more difficult to spread it into the rest of Azeroth. One of the first things I did once I got infected was to hearth into Dalaran, but when I arrived, I was not infected anymore. However, I was able to take it to Boralus via using the portal site in the mage tower, so it is not a perfect program yet.

The major point to realize is two distinct events are going on. There is the scourge invasion and the questline, that requires players to Icecrown and sends players on a goose hunt for Nathanos. Then there's the zombie infestation, which adds just a small PvP aspect to everything. It isn't surprising some people would want to take part in the very first event but not the moment, as not everyone likes PvP or using their class and race abilities removed and replaced by additional skills. Blizzard could make the infestation only active for one of those weeks of the invasion, but that's no fun for anyone who misses that week and would want to participate. Frankly, the best solution likely is to leverage the Warmode system. An infestation is basically a PvP event , so having the capability to opt-in with Warmode makes sense. Even doing something where for most of cheap classic gold wow the invasion, players had to opt into the infestation by selecting Warmode, but at the last week, even before Shadowlands dropped, the infestation could influence everyone, would most likely be the optimal solution.
