It's a big WoTLK Classic Gold shift for the economics of WoW which has previously been specific to servers. Server-specific economies have allowed dedicated players to take advantage of markets, but it will be very difficult now that players will have to compete across all servers in their region. However, the move should be beneficial for smaller-sized servers with fewer goods and consumables to choose from in their servers-specific marketplaces. The most recent major overhaul to the auction house in WoW came in the year 2020. during the Battle for Azeroth expansion, in which Blizzard overhauled the Auction House's user interface.

The patch will also bring a new chat channel for trading, Trade (Services). That doesn't mean the original Trade channel, which has existed since the game's release nearly two decades ago, will be gone. This new channel will exclusively be for the purchase or sale of PvP upgrades, dungeons runs, and other player services and the Trade channel will only be used an option for purchasing and selling items.

"We think that with this new change, you'll be able to keep Trade chats for the typical trading and buying of products as well as professions, not chatter in general," Blizzard writes.

The WoW's next expansion, Dragonflight, is slated to release by the end of the year. The fact that the alpha testing for Dragonflight hasn't started yet is causing a lot of players requesting Blizzard to hold off on the expansion because of quality concerns. When Dragonflight arrives it will bring major changes to the game's talent system as well as professions. It will also bring a new corner of Azeroth to explore and new race/class, called the Dracthyr.
